Did you leave college without a degree? You’re not alone! Thousands of Mississippi adults left college due to a variety of factors including financial pressures, family responsibilities, and job opportunities.
What if you were told your prior experience at college wasn’t a waste at all? Better yet, it could actually help you earn your degree quicker than you might have thought. It might sound too good to be true, but it’s real!
Here, we’ll take a look at why your previous time in college wasn’t a waste and why you might be closer to earning your degree than you think.
Putting your old credits to work.
Across the US, 36 million adults hold some college credits but have no degree to show for their efforts. But your previous time at college was anything but a waste. Through the C2C Program, you can put credits you’ve earned in the past towards a new degree. You might even have enough to qualify for a degree already! Your dreams are closer than you ever imagined. But how does it work?
After enrolling in the C2C Program, you’ll get paired with a committed C2C Coach who will work with you one-on-one to determine the quickest path towards graduation based on your unique circumstances. This means reviewing all of the college credits you’ve earned in the past and determining how they can be applied towards your new degree.
C2C-Specific Degrees you can earn with previous credits
Following an extensive review of your previous time at college, your C2C Coach will listen to your goals and recommend a degree path. Based on the number of credits you’ve completed and your overall academic goals, your coach could recommend the Reverse Transfer Associate Degree or the University Studies Degree. Let’s take a closer look at these unique opportunities and how they work.
Reverse Transfer Associate Degree
If you transferred from a community college to a four-year university without graduating, the Reverse Transfer Associate Degree might be perfect for you. Through the C2C Program, the college credits you earned in the past can be sent back to the community college you originally attended and combined to qualify for the Reverse Transfer Associate Degree. You need to have at least 15 transferrable credits from your original community college to be eligible.
Not sure if you qualify? Your C2C Coach will walk you through the whole process and determine whether or not the credits you earned in the past can count towards this associate degree. Some Mississippians might be sitting on a degree right now without even realizing it! If you don't have enough credits for an associate degree, your C2C Coach will help you determine what classes you need to complete to finally earn your degree.
University Studies Degree
Did you attend college for a few years before leaving? If so, you might be closer to earning a bachelor’s degree than you originally thought. The University Studies Degree is uniquely designed to help adult learners make the most of their previous credits. In order to qualify, you need to have earned at least 90 credits without having completed a baccalaureate degree. You also must have been out of school for at least 24 months.
To determine if you’re eligible for the University Studies Degree, your C2C Coach will review your previously earned credits and other aspects of your prior college experience. Once accepted, you and your coach will create a custom-tailored curriculum based on your completed coursework, your academic interest, and your career goals.
Ready for the really exciting parts? You can put up to 30 hours of technical credits you might have earned towards a degree! This program also includes grade forgiveness allowing you to prevent some classes from counting towards your overall GPA to keep it higher.

Over 20 years after leaving Delta State University without a degree, Thomas Coleman enrolled in the C2C Program to finally realize his dream of graduating. With the help of his C2C Coach, Thomas realized he qualified for the University Studies degree.
“When my C2C Coach told me I had enough credits for a University Studies degree, I couldn’t believe it. I had no idea they could count credits from so many years ago. If the C2C Program had existed 5 or 10 years ago, I would have done this sooner. It’s a great program.”
After putting nearly six years towards a degree, LaShawnda Clay had to put her graduation on hold for several years as she focused on her job and family. But with the support and guidance of her C2C Coach Dr. Carlos Wilson, LaShawnda was able to revive her dream through the University Studies Degree.
“I am now able to check the box next to ‘College Graduate’ when prompted for education level. It feels SO good! Best of all, I feel like a great role model for our kids. Their mom is a college graduate.”
